Gene homology

Following information retrieved from HomoloGene
List of homologues:

BMPR2,  Pan troglodytes NC_006470.2
BMPR2,  Bos taurus NC_007300.3
Bmpr2,  Mus musculus NC_000067.5
BMPR2, Rattus norvegicus NC_005108.2
BMPR2,  Gallus gallus NC_006094.2
Bmpr2b,  Danio rerio NC_007120.3

I tried to find homologues to my gene, BMPR2, using HomoloGene. All of them had similar functions based on the result. For example, the gene type is characterized as protein coding. I was curious if I would end up any different homologues based on the use of DNA sequence or mRNA sequence, I tried both of them to find homologues to Homo sapiens BMPR2. As I expected, I ended up with same homologues as the above list. Furthermore, all of them have same name as following: bone morphogenetic protein receptor, type II (serine/threonine kinase). However, zebra finish (Danio rerio) is further classified as bone morphogenetic protein receptor, type II (serine/threonine kinase) b. I am not sure the exact characteristic or any difference between BMPR2b and BMPR2, therefore, I will further investigate via various tools, such as creating a homology tree.

Using FASTA sequence of my full length of DNA, I tried to blast to analyze different gene alignment. I waited for about 4 minutes, however, there was an error message about blasting my sequences. I am guessing the length of bases is too long that causes the failure of blast for alignment of genes in different species.
